-The logistics company ASMEN has made it possible for the games to reach all corners of the peninsula, bringing a message of hope and joy to these little ones.
-The Pequeño Deseo Foundation, with this action, wants to make society aware of how important it is to collaborate to provide psychological and emotional support to these children and their families, who suffer long hospital admissions in their fight against their illnesses.
May 13 marks the Day of the Hospitalized Child, an important date for the Fundación Pequeño Deseo, since for more than 20 years they have been working every day to fulfill the wishes of children who, suffering from serious or chronic illnesses, have to be subjected to long hospital stays for their cure or maintenance, which often causes a low mood both in the children and in their families and caregivers.
The purpose of the action is to transmit to society how necessary it is to support these medical centers, where these children and their immediate environment remain for months, sometimes years, receiving the care and support of the medical and nursing team.
This day is marked in the calendar by the European Parliament, to raise awareness of how important it is to support hospitals, either with improved facilities, activations and different supports, such as emotional support, to make life more pleasant for those who are and work in them.
Thousands of children in Spain have to face illnesses throughout the year, cutting the flow of their normal life, missing friends, school classes and games.
For this reason, this year, the Fundación Pequeño Deseo has made a massive delivery of toys, donated in their entirety by the LEGO Group, to almost fifty hospitals in Spain, including the main ones in Barcelona, such as Vall D’Ebron and Joan de Deu; in Valencia, such as Clínico, La Fe, Xátiva; Zaragoza, Murcia, Alicante, Albaceta, Bilbao, Asturias, Galicia, the Clínica Universidad de Navarra, both in Pamplona and Madrid, as well as other centers in the capital: Niño Jesús, Gregorio Marañón, La Paz, San Rafael or Clínico San Carlos, among many others.
In all of them, on the eve of the Day of the Hospitalized Child, 1,600 LEGO sets have been delivered thanks to the logistics and help of ASMEN, a courier company based in Valencia with which the Fundación Pequeño Deseo has been collaborating for some time.
They and their team have made it possible for all the sets to reach the hospitals in Spain to bring a smile to the smiles of the little ones admitted, who, at the very least, will spend this day and the weekend in the centers.
Many of them will even stay for months, and will return over the next few years. ” From the Fundación Pequeño Deseo we call for this day not to be a simple date in the calendar, but to be aware that the help and collaboration of citizens is essential so that all these children can have the best conditions during their months of treatment, whether with psychological support, activities or humanization of the centers,” says Cristina Cuadrado, director of the Fundación Pequeño Deseo.
It is in the emotional area that Pequeño Deseo works, “feeling proud of being able to make the little ones experience special moments within the harsh reality that they have to live. For this reason, we need the help of society throughout the year and I invite you to collaborate actively”[:] .
